The Comber Agricultural Society is proud to honour Mark Rindlisbacher as the 2026 Community Volunteer of the Year.
Mark moved to Comber in August of 1990 after being born and raised in Windsor. He chose Comber because he believed it would be the perfect small-town community to raise a family, and more than 35 years later, he continues to proudly call Comber home. Since moving to the community, Mark has dedicated countless hours to volunteering and giving back. For approximately 30 years, he has been involved with Comber Baseball, serving in many roles including coach, ball booth operator, and President — a position he still holds today. Throughout the years, he has helped shape the local baseball community and has watched generations of children grow up through the sport. His dedication extended beyond youth baseball, as he also played in the adult league himself for five years and was always willing to lend a hand wherever needed.
Known for his fairness and generosity, Mark always believed that families should be able to enjoy baseball without financial stress. As President of Comber Baseball, he worked hard to keep concession prices affordable so parents and families could enjoy their time at the ballpark. He also became well known for his cooking — especially his hamburgers. In fact, many people could immediately tell when Mark wasn’t the one behind the grill because of the reputation he built for making some of the best burgers around.
Mark also became heavily involved with the Comber Fair Derby shortly after moving to Comber in the early 1990s. With a lifelong love of cars, he was naturally drawn to the demolition derby and quickly became an active participant alongside
many of his local friends. He describes the experience as exciting and exhilarating as well as successful, as he often found himself in the winner’s circle. Over the years, Mark became highly respected for his knowledge of cars and derby building.
Even while volunteering as a flagger, participants regularly sought his advice and tips on how to improve their cars for the following year. His experience, reliability, and willingness to help others made him someone many looked up to within the
community. One of Mark’s favourite memories from volunteering at the Comber Fair comes from working in the beer tent. While checking IDs, he would often recognize names and realize the adults standing in front of him were once kids he had coached years earlier on the baseball diamond. For Mark, those moments represented the full-circle impact of community volunteering. He especially enjoyed volunteering in the beer tent because it gave him the opportunity to reconnect and catch up with so many long time friends and acquaintances.
Mark is widely known as someone people can count on as being dependable, hardworking, and always willing to help. His commitment to Comber and the people within it has left a lasting impact on countless families and organizations over the
years. When asked what advice he would give future volunteers, Mark shared that it simply feels good to give back to the community and that it is truly heartwarming to see the positive impact that comes from helping others.
The Comber Agricultural Society sincerely thanks Mark Rindlisbacher for his decades of dedication, leadership, and community spirit. Congratulations on being named the 2026 Community Volunteer of the Year.
